Back at the shop, Bader checked in with Lorenzo and Rew before she settled in her office for a couple of hours of work. A text to Jonas had not yet gained an answer, so she lost herself in her work. She wasn’t worried about Rew and Lorenzo being able to handle the shop. By only allowing in three or four at a time, they couldn’t get overwhelmed. It also allowed her to breathe a little easier, not jumping at every sound to see if the SaHPs were back.

A tap at the door had Bader looking up to see a weary-looking Jonas.

“May I come in?” Jonas asked.

“Of course. Are you okay? Want some coffee?” Bader asked.

“Coffee would be great, thanks,” Jonas said as he dropped into a chair and let his head fall back. “Sweet and light, please? I think I need the boost.”

Bader fixed his coffee and came to sit in the chair next to him as she handed it over. “What’s wrong, my friend?”

“It’s been a very long day and tomorrow is going to be just as long. Two of ours are in the hospital after a go-round with some of those brownshirt bastards. I need about twelve hours of sleep, but I promised you I’d come by.”

“Have you eaten? I can get you some food and you can crash in the guest room if you’d like. There’s a shower and everything,” Bader said with a faint smile.

“I need to go home and feed the cat anyway,” Jonas said and dug in his pocket to hand a slip of paper to Bader. “This is the number for Jack Stone. He works for the State Department. Tell him I gave you the number and you’re Magnus’s partner, and he’ll arrange a meeting. I’ll come to the meeting with you, no matter when it is. You’re not to go meet him alone, understood?”

Bader took the slip of paper, then looked back at Jonas. “Does Magnus know you’re giving me this?”

“He does. I spoke to him last night.” Jonas took a moment and drained the mug, then put it on the desk. “Thanks for the coffee. I need to go before I fall asleep right here. Promise me, no meeting Stone alone, got it?”

“I hear you, and I won’t. I’ll make sure we go together. Thank you, Jonas. Get home safely,” Bader said.

"I'm taking a transit car. No way I can drive like this. Oh, and I told Rew that Ian was taking a nap before he came over later, so they know it may be a little later than they planned. I’ll wait for your message about Stone,” Jonas said and headed out.

Bader watched him go, then looked down at the number. She put it in her phone and saved it, then sent a text to Magnus. “Jonas gave me the number. Call when you can so we can talk? Love you.”

“Will call in about an hour. Meeting about to start. Love you, too.” Magnus sent back and Bader smiled. Even an ocean apart, they were still connected.
